KWS captures stray hyena spotted roaming in Embakasi

The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) has successfully captured a hyena that was spotted roaming around Embakasi.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, KWS detailed their swift response to an urgent call from the National Police Service ‘A’ campus in Embakasi, informing them of the hyena’s presence on the grounds.

KWS immediately deployed a specially designed predator trap to safely capture the hyena without causing it any harm.

“After careful planning and execution, the hyena was successfully captured and ready to be returned to its rightful home,” KWS said.

“The KWS team safely transported the hyena to Nairobi National Park, where, amid the vast savannah and familiar landscapes it was released back into its natural habitat,” they added.

KWS highlighted that this successful mission not only demonstrated the dedication and expertise of their team but also underscored their commitment to peaceful coexistence between wildlife and communities.

KWS urged the public to contact them in case of any wildlife encounters. They can be reached via their 24-7 Toll-Free line at 0800 597 000 or WhatsApp at 0726 610509 for immediate intervention.
