Leaders from Tana River County and the family of Isack Jarso Delo, a 50-year-old herder killed by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Rangers, are demanding immediate action against the officers involved in the shooting.
Delo was reportedly gunned down at his home in Kone village in front of his family, prompting widespread calls for accountability.
During a visit to the victim’s home on February 4, 2025, Tana River County Assembly Speaker Osma Galole and former Tana River Governor Hussein Dado expressed their frustration over the delayed investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The leaders questioned why it has taken so long for the DCI to complete its inquiry into the tragic incident.
“We issued a one-week ultimatum two weeks ago during a press conference in Garsen, attended by various community leaders, but no action has been taken,” Galole stated. He urged the DCI to charge the suspects in court so the bereaved family can feel that justice is being served.

The Speaker emphasized the need for public transparency regarding the status of the investigation. “It’s now two weeks, and we have received no updates from the DCI. Our community deserves to know when these suspects will face justice,” he added, indicating his willingness to travel to Nairobi for answers.
Former Governor Dado echoed these sentiments, reinforcing the community’s desire for accountability. “We came here to console the families, and they want to see the suspects taken to court,” Dado remarked. He appealed directly to the government, especially the Director of the DCI, to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
