France and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has officially withdrawn his legal complaint of moral harassment against his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), his lawyer announced on Tuesday.
“We are withdrawing our civil action,” said Pierre-Olivier Sur, Mbappé’s legal representative, ahead of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup semi-final clash with PSG, a high-stakes reunion between the striker and his former club.
The complaint had stemmed from Mbappé’s treatment during the 2023–24 season, when he alleged that PSG isolated him from the first-team squad after he refused to sign a new contract. Mbappé claimed he was made to train with players the club intended to offload and was excluded from the team’s pre-season tour of Asia. He also missed PSG’s first league match of that season.
Following internal talks, Mbappé was later reinstated into the squad. However, his situation highlighted broader concerns, prompting France’s players’ union to lodge a formal complaint in 2023 regarding the treatment of players during transfer disputes.
Despite returning to action for PSG that season, Mbappé moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 after seven seasons in Paris. He left the club having scored 256 goals in 308 appearances, cementing his legacy as one of their all-time greats. Ironically, PSG clinched their first-ever UEFA Champions League title the season after his departure.
Although the harassment complaint has been dropped, Mbappé remains locked in a separate legal battle with PSG over €55 million ($64.4 million) in alleged unpaid wages and bonuses.
The latest developments come as tensions remain between the two parties, even as Mbappé prepares to face his former teammates in one of the season’s most anticipated fixtures.
