Lacazette Brings Arsenal Back To Winning Ways

Arsenal claimed a much-needed three points as Alexandre Lacazette (2) and Gabriel Martinelli struck in a comfortable triumph, after having gone four games without a win.

The Gunners started brightly as they took the lead in the 33rd minute when Alexandre Lacazette stroked home a cool finish to round off an impressive passing move from Mikel Arteta’s men.

Gabriel Martinelli then made it 2-0 to the visitors in the 71st minute when he tapped home a loose ball from close range.

Lacazette then added his second goal of the night with a superb finish in the 85th minute after he latched on to Thomas Partey’s pass to wrap up the win against the Premier League’s basement club.

However, Arteta witnessed two of his brightest starlets in Saka and Martinelli come off with injuries in Sheffield, although he is more concerned about the Englishman’s issue after he was pictured with ice on his thigh.

The Gunners are already without Kieran Tierney and David Luiz for the long-term, with the former now expected to miss the rest of the season.

Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are all doubtful for Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final second leg with Slavia Prague.

A disappointing 1-1 draw in the first-leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Slavia Prague last week means the Gunners have it all to do on Thursday night.

Conceding a crucial away goal means Arsenal must score in the Czech Republic in order to have any chance of reaching the semi-final and keep their hopes of playing Champions League football next season alive.
