Police are investigating a fire incident where a firearm was burnt to ashes in Laikipia County.
According to a police report seen by Uzalendo News, a mysterious fire broke out at the Laikipia East police headquarters.
The officers then rushed to the scene where a police residence structure was on fire.
However, in an attempt to put out the fire, one APC Koyan Matonge accidentally dropped his firearm into the fire.
"APC KOYAN MATONGE was performing day guard sentry armed with SCORPION RIFLE S/NO C 2xxx2 loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition was the first to rush to the scene to save his property and alerted others. On the process his scorpion rifle falls in his burning house and got burnt together with its magazine and all ammunitions."
The incident is under investigation by police officers based in Nanyuki.
