A woman who is facing charges of impersonation has been hit with additional impersonation charges at Milimani Law Courts, intensifying her ongoing case involving the Teachers Service Commission.
The court heard that in May 2023, Caroline Makena Kinyua allegedly presented multiple forged documents at the Laikipia North Sub-County TSC office, including KCSE and KCPE certificates, a KRA PIN certificate, and a National Identity Card, all purportedly belonging to Kairuthi Caroline Kubai, while seeking teacher deployment. Kinyua denied all allegations, insisting the documents are hers.
These new charges come on top of her initial counts of fraud, in which she is accused of unlawfully obtaining KSh 294,134.75 from TSC between May 2023 and February 2024 while employed at Doldol Primary School. She pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The judge increased her cash bail by KSh 50,000 because of the additional counts, raising the total to KSh 150,000.
A witness testified that she is currently unemployed because of the case and can only seek employment after its resolution.
The matter is scheduled for pretrial on 3 December 2025, with the judge indicating plans to fast-track proceedings to protect the witness and expedite the hearing.
