Lari Boys Students Burn School Buildings After Entertainment Session Was Called Off

Lari Boys High School has been closed indefinitely after a massive fire tore through key buildings on Saturday night in what authorities believe was a case of student unrest gone rogue.

Several security cameras installed within the school, and electricity were vandalized allegedly to evade identification before they set the buildings on fire.

The blaze, which started late in the evening, gutted the administration block and several classrooms, leaving only the dormitories standing.

Although no injuries or fatalities have been reported, the scale of destruction has forced the school to shut down operations.

Early reports suggest the unrest may have been sparked by a bizarre dispute — students were allegedly denied entertainment session, triggering anger that spiralled out of control.

Residents who rushed to the school to help put out the fire and restore order were met with stones and hostility, as a section of students turned violent.

“We came to help, but they started throwing stones at us,” said one resident, visibly shaken.

By Sunday morning, distraught parents had begun arriving at the institution, many in tears, to pick up their children and demand answers from school administrators.

Education officials are expected to visit the school to assess the damage and determine the next steps. Meanwhile, authorities have launched investigations into the incident, with several students reportedly being questioned.

This is the latest in a troubling string of school fires in Kenya, raising questions about discipline, mental health, and the rising wave of unrest in boarding institutions.
