The late Sharon Otieno had demanded a house worth 20-25 million in Nairobi or Kisumu, 5 million upkeep money, and a good vehicle the status of a Governor’s wife from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
A witness told Milimani High Court Judge Cecilia Githua that Sharon had given the former Migori Governor all these irreducible minimums before she met her death in September 2018.
The court heard that the late Sharon was desirous of a glamorous lifestyle, especially after allegedly getting pregnant for Obado.
According to the witness, she could not go by road when attending her clinic in Nairobi Hospital.
Mula told court that he met Sharon at a hotel in Homa Bay while he was having tea when Sharon approached his table and introduced herself.
Mula told the court that Sharon wanted to go public regarding her affair with the former Governor in a bid to make him assist her financially.
Sharon’s condition was for Obado to buy her a Car, and a Ksh 25m house either in Nairobi or Kisumu and give her Ksh 5m for upkeep.
However, Obado said her demands were too high and she should reconsider her conditions to a reasonable level.
Obado requested the MCA to handle the issue because he was a family man and he understood such scenarios.
“I told him I would try. I asked him to give me time,” said Mula.
Obado subsequently asked his wife to assist him with Sh150,000 preferably to give to Sharon promising to rerun it the following day but the wife gave him only Sh30,000.
What followed after this was a series of meetings between Obado, his personal assistant Michae Oyamo and the MCA.
All with a view to settling Sharon’s matter amicably. The meetings would take place in Nairobi and the governor would cater for Mula’s transport and accommodation.
Obado would find out from Mula what Sharon needed urgently. But Sharon’s earlier demands remained the same.
She still wanted a house worth Sh25 million. She believed she deserve it because she saw herself as the governor’s wife.
Obado was however still not okay with the demands. He suggested that they buy a plot for Sharon where they can build her a good home to stay in.
He estimated the cost to be around Sh4 million. Obado requested Mula to convey the idea to Sharon which he did.
Sharon welcomed the idea and insisted the house should be fully furnished. She was to receive the money at the end of August 2018. However, Sharon never live to see the realization of her demands.
