Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma and lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi have clashed over the LGBTQ+ legislation.
The spat began when Kaluma posted and criticized views ascribed to US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman, who stated that the US should not impose its ideas on Kenyans because Kenyan law criminalizes LQBTQ+.
“Over the past week, my team and I met with the LGBTQI+ community & stakeholders to support the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons. The U.S. proudly advances efforts to protect LGBTQI+ persons from discrimination & violence and will continue to stand up for human rights & equality,” Whitman tweeted.
Her words echo what has been a big discussion point after the Supreme court ruled in favor of the LGBTQ+ community’s freedom to form lobbying groups.
According to Kaluma, “The International Declaration of Human Rights talks about the rights of all human individuals; men and women,” He proceeded to say Kenyans will not accept your warped “sexual orientation” bullshit in Kenya!”
Grand Mullah sprang to her rescue, telling the MP that he had more serious matters for the people of Homa Bay Town.
“Hon Kaluma. You are an MP in Homa Bay. Concentrate on your constituency. The Hon Ambassador is rightly articulating Washington’s policy on the subject. Your vile obsession with the LBGTQ community isn’t wealthy. Hii ni mambo ya Mungu…Btw a person and his God…Wachana!” the lawyer said.
