Advocate Danstan Omari volunteers to pay hospital bill of a Donholm based Youngman who collapsed in court just seconds after pleading with the court to release him claiming he suffers from kidney failure which has financially drained his family.
Alex Mwanzia Mutua whose mother could not control her tears after seeing her son stand at the dock to answer for his criminal charges, is accused of willfully obstructing a police officer in the execution of police officers’ duty and resisting arrest.
When his file was called, he informed the plea court Magistrate Susan Shitubi that at the time of arrest, he suffered a serious police brutality and that his abdomen, throat and chest were paining from the assault he received from the police officers.
The court seemed reluctant to take the allegations from the suspect serious only for him to collapse before the magistrate could even finish writing her final orders.
Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi then directed that the suspect be given medical attention and requested Advocate Danstan Omari to take over the matter on probono basis to help the young man.
Advocate Omari then interviewed the mother who revealed that her son has been surviving on medication from Kenyatta National Hospital and that the family is currently overwhelmed by medical costs.
The Advocate then volunteered to stand in and ensure the Youngman gets his treatment.
