A Saturday night out turned deadly when a 35-year-old man was fatally shot outside a popular Narok nightclub following a heated row over a parking space.
Mandela Nabala, the victim, was gunned down around 2:30am outside Mara Junction Night Club after an argument spiralled out of control.
The shooter, identified as Paul Sena, 53, is a licensed civilian gun holder and was reportedly driving a Toyota Fortuner at the time of the incident.
According to police, tensions flared between the two men as they attempted to park their vehicles—Nabala, a lawyer, was behind the wheel of a Subaru Forester. In the middle of the dispute, Sena is said to have drawn his Glock pistol and shot Nabala once in the chin at close range.
Club proprietor Ambrose Lelesit reported the incident to police, who rushed to the scene led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS). The venue is located just seven kilometres from Narok Police Station.
Nabala was immediately rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital but was sadly declared dead on arrival.
Officers recovered the firearm, which was still loaded with 14 live rounds, and collected one spent cartridge from the scene. Sena was taken into custody pending further investigations.
The shooting has sent shockwaves through the local community and reignited concerns about the handling of firearms by civilian license holders. Police have urged calm and promised a full investigation.
The nightclub remained closed on Sunday as authorities processed the crime scene.
