President William Ruto on Friday asked Kisii Governor Simba Arati to ditch the ODM party and join him.
“Unajua simba amesema mimi nilikuwa mtu ya ODM na ni ukweli. Sasa kwasababu mini nilikuwa mtu ya ODM, Simba Sasa wewe vile nilihama , ata wewe hama twendelee pamoja?” he posed
“Na unaona unaona vile nilihama , nilijipanga panga , wewe huwezi jua,” Ruto answered.
Speaking in Nyamasege, Kisii county, President Ruto also asked the ODM governor to pass a message to his colleagues in opposition.
He said Arati should tell his colleagues in opposition to stop planning demos.
The Head of State explained that since he was in ODM, the leaders should cease planning against their own.
“Sasa vile nilikiwa mtu ya ODM, si uambie wale wananifanyia maandamano. Mbona wanafanyia mtu wao maandamano na mtu wao ni rais?Unaweza kufanyia mtu wenyu na ni rais maandamano? ” Ruto posed.
Ruto was responding to Governor Arati who had earlier asked him to let those in ODM be as he was once a member.
“Wewe ulikuwa mtu wa ODM. Kubali na sisi tuwe pande hii lakini ukiona Simba amenda mbali unaniita tufanye kazi pamoja na Kenya isonge mbele,” he said.
Ruto, together with other ODM rebels left the Raila Odinga-led party before 2013.
They formed the United Republican Party, which entered into a coalition agreement with The National Alliance to form Jubilee.
