The home team came back from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw in the Premier League on Saturday thanks to goals from Kyle Walker-Peters of Southampton and Joe Aribo of Leeds United.
After the Saints’ humiliating loss at Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend, Ralph Hasenhuettl was under pressure, but Walker-Peters and Aribo’s outstanding goals turned the game around and gave him some breathing room.
Right back Walker-Peters remarked, “We were frustrated after the Spurs game, going 1-0 up and then letting the game go like we did.
Although Leeds dominated the opening exchanges, Southampton appeared to be the more dangerous team, with Stuart Armstrong and rookie Armel Bella-Kotchap both coming close.
Leeds punished Southampton for a sluggish start to the second half when Rodrigo skillfully converted a Jack Harrison cross from the left in the 46th minute and added another with a close-range header on the hour.
