Omanyala Finishes Second In Germany Sprint Event

Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala suffered his first 100m loss this year when he finished second at the Leichtathletik Meeting held on Wednesday evening in Germany.

Omanyala who holds the world leading time of 9.85 seconds clocked 10.14 seconds to finish second behind Yupun Abeykoon of Sri Lanka who won the race in 10.06 secs.

On Sunday, Omanyala stormed to victory in Italy where he set a new course record 10.11 at the International Castiglione Athletics Meeting.

The 26-year-old will now shift his focus on the Ostrava Golden Spike where he will face off with Jamaica’s Yohann Blake on Tuesday.

Omanyala will then head to Mauritius for the Africa Senior Championships which kicks off on June 8-12.
