Hamilton, Serena Williams Pledge In Chelsea Takeover

Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have pledged millions of pounds to one of the competing bids to buy Chelsea.

The full list of investors backing the takeover offer spearheaded by Sir Martin Broughton, the former Liverpool and British Airways chairman – the most prominent of whom are the seven-time Formula One world champion and former women’s world tennis No 1 – can be seen exclusively on Sky News.

According to sources close to the group, Hamilton and Williams, who are the most well-known members of any of the three remaining consortia, have each pledged an estimated £10 million to the bid.

Hamilton and Williams, on the other hand, have been in contact with the Broughton-led group for several weeks.

On Thursday morning, it was unclear which corporate entities the two would use to invest in the Blues.

Among the three shortlisted bidders, the consortium is the only one led by a British citizen, and it includes another British sporting legend in the form of Sebastian Coe as one of its backers.

The addition of Hamilton and Williams, according to a source close to the group, was a serious investment decision based on their experience in building global sports brands.
