LG donates first Air Purifier to COVID-19 frontline workers

LG Electronics in partnership with Opalnet Limited have donated PuriCare wearable air purifiers worth Kshs 5 million to the Kenya Medical Association (KMA) for further distribution to medical workers at the COVID-19 frontline. – By Meshack Makau.

The mask is designed with several accessories which include a face guard, HEPA filter and an inner filter. One will be able to use it for up to eight hours compared to a normal one which is recommended for three hours.

The face guard is required to be washed, placed in the puricare wearable air purifier case and then monitored with the ThinQ app compatible with a smart phone.

Today the Kenya Medical association has partnered with the company and have received over 300 masks. The partnership comes with goodies for the KMA members as an agreement has been reached for the members to buy LG electronics at a subsidized price.

KMA will distribute the masks to healthcare workers all over the country. This is aimed at combating the spread of Covid-19 which has left several healthcare workers dead.
Through its President DR. Andrew Were, the association was grateful for the partnership.

“We are really grateful for the support coming from LG. In the last one month we have lost more than twenty healthcare workers especially very senior doctors and this gesture of having LG purifier mask is going a long way in terms of protecting frontline healthcare workers as they provide service to you,” said Were.

The managing director LG Mr. Sonyung was also grateful to KMA for accepting the partnership citing that the company was pleased by KMA for collaborating with them to help fight the corona virus pandemic.

“We are very proud in joining the fight against Covid-19 pandemic in Kenya. We are also pleased by KMA for accepting to collaborate with us to bring in market the first electronic mask to help fight the pandemic,” said Mr. Sonyung.

“The Corona virus pandemic is a huge burden in Kenya especially to frontline healthcare workers who take charge of helping Covid-19 patients. This has affected all of us whether or indirectly,” added Mr. sonyung.
