DCI Seals Off Street Where NHIF Employee Waithera Was ‘Shot Dead’

Ms Waithera collapsed and died in Nairobi's city center on Monday evening, and a postmortem revealed that she had been shot just moments before. 

The DCI’s forensic ballistics team sealed off the scene where NHIF employee Lilian Waithera was allegedly shot dead on Kaunda Street in Nairobi last Monday.

Ms Waithera, 46, who worked at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), fell and died on Kaunda Street in Nairobi, according to police. 

According to witnesses and police, she began complaining of chest symptoms while walking on February 13, at 5 p.m. 

Her colleagues called an ambulance, which arrived swiftly, but the paramedics pronounced her dead at the site. 

She had walked from her Upper Hill workplace and was on her way home when she fainted. 

Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei stated on Monday that authorities are investigating the incident.
