Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi is set to go public with explosive details surrounding the fake fertilizer scandal that has rocked the country and drawn national outrage.
Speaking at a political event at Rigathi Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence, the former CS, Linturi will appear in a televised media interview this week, where he is expected to “spill the beans” on the behind-the-scenes dealings that enabled the distribution of counterfeit fertilizer to thousands of unsuspecting farmers.
The scandal, which sparked investigations by the DCI and sharp criticism from the public, involved the supply of substandard or fake fertilizer to farmers across various counties, resulting in massive crop failures and deepening food insecurity.
Linturi claims he will reveal the roles of senior officials in President William Ruto’s government and expose procurement irregularities ignored by oversight bodies.
“It’s time for the truth. We have a responsibility as leaders to account for our time serving Kenyans. Whatever will happen, let it happen.”
Linturi’s interview is expected to air later this week on a major national broadcaster.
Linturi is latest among several politicians who have decamped to Rigathi Gachagua’s campaign.
Gachagua is expected to launch his own Political party to face Ruto in 2027.
Otherss in the team are Martha Karua, Fred Matiang’i, Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Sicily Kariuki among others.
