List of MPs Presented To The House Business Committee (HBC)

Adan Wehliye of Eldas and Tom Kajwang of Ruaraka are two of the nine MPs whose names have been proposed for the House Business Committee of the National Assembly.

As the lawmakers’ plenary sessions resumed on Tuesday afternoon, Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah laid the names on the table.

Samwel Chepkonga, Faith Wairimu, Umul Kassim, Omboko Milemba, Robert Mbui, Sarah Korere, and Joshua Mbithi are additional lawmakers.

The nine will join the automatic members, Speaker Moses Wetangula, Ichung’wah, Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro, and his minority counterpart Junet Mohammed.

Within seven days of the new House being fully constituted, the HBC is chosen.

The Deputy Speaker leads the Committee when the Speaker is not present.

With the approval of the House, the House Business Committee is tasked with creating and, as needed, occasionally adjusting the Parliamentary Calendar.

The committee additionally oversees and monitors the execution of House initiatives.

HBC carries out the Standing Orders pertaining to the planning or programming of the House’s business and the operation of the House Committees.

It also establishes the order in which the House will debate the committee reports.

A quorum is comprised of the Chairperson and at least one-third of the other members of the House Business Committee.
