BY FAITH MUTETE – After all the hype surrounding this year’s Kalasha awards the beautiful event that was filled with glam happened during the weekend at the Safari Park Hotel ,with the who is who of the film industry attending.
Despite the weather not being so friendly prominent players in the film industry turned up in great numbers looking glamourous and ready for the event.
The highlights of the event came when nominees of different films scooped the award amongst them being, Pascal Tokodi, the lead actor in popular TV drama show Selina, who scooped the Lead Actor in a TV Drama.
Pascal received his share of competition from, Joe Kinyua (Njoro wa Uba), Leon Ongaya (Pete), Benjamin Onyango (The Wives) and Maqbul Mohamed (Varshila).
Nice Githinji won the Best Lead Actress in a TV Film award beating Brenda Wairimu (Monica), Celestine Gachuhi (Selina), Sahara Mohamed (Pete), and Maryanne (The Wives).
Sarah Hassan got the coveted Best Actress in a Film award for her main role in Plan B. , she was awarded the magnificent gong that comes with a 42-inch TV and Star Times decoder.
George Mo won the Best Lead Actor in a Film award for his lead role in Lost in Time. The film also had its director Peter Kawa taking home the Best Director award.
Also in attendance was Nairobi County Women Representative Esther Passaris, KFCB Director Ezekiel Mutua ,Timothy Owase and Kenya Film Commission boss, Mr. Chris Foot.
