Litien Boys Students Cleared to Sit KCSE After Partial Fee Deal

Written by Andrew Kariuki

Parents and candidates from Litien Boys High School have secured temporary relief after the school agreed to readmit students ahead of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

This follows a petition by the defence, in which the court directed that each student be allowed to return upon payment of Ksh10,000, instead of the Ksh25,000 earlier demanded by the school.

The court further ordered that parents pay an additional Ksh5,000 after one week and settle the remaining Ksh10,000 later to complete the school’s initial request of Ksh25,000.

The school had argued that the earlier Ksh10,000 proposal was insufficient to cover damages and facilitate proper exam conditions but later accepted the arrangement after both sides reached consensus to ensure no candidate misses the national exams.

The main petition challenging the school’s demand for Ksh49,000 in damages is still pending.

The case will be mentioned again on October 29.
