A local civil society organisation, AFOSC-Kenya, has launched a peace and security campaign in Mandera County aimed at fostering collaboration between residents and security agencies to address insecurity and build lasting peace.
The campaign began with a community roadshow in Mandera Town, drawing together residents, government officials, and security personnel for open discussions on trust-building and improved cooperation.
Flagged off by the Deputy County Commissioner for Mandera East, the event was also attended by senior officials from the Mandera County Government’s Department of Cohesion. Organisers described the roadshow as a critical platform for community engagement on security concerns.
“This initiative is part of AFOSC-Kenya’s ongoing commitment to promoting peace, mutual understanding, and community-led security solutions in Mandera County,” said Mohamed Sheikh, the organisation’s Executive Director.
Participants were encouraged to share their personal experiences and propose practical, locally-driven approaches to the security challenges affecting the region.

AFOSC-Kenya announced plans to extend the campaign to other sub-counties in Mandera, working closely with local leaders and government agencies to establish sustainable, community-based security structures.
