Mathira Constituency Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi and Murang’a County Woman Representative Betty Maina are set to marry two years after bumping into each other on the campaign trail ahead of the August 2022 General Election.
The two love birds are in the advanced stages of their relationship after Wamumbi proposed to Betty over the weekend. A request that Betty accepted and flaunted on social media.
The proposal was witnessed by among others Governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), and Nominated Senator Veronicah Maina.
Betty took to social media to showcase her new ring, thanking everyone who showed up for the occasion and particularly her husband-to-be for making it happen.
“One day at a time sweet Jesus. He makes all things beautiful in his own time. Thanks my sisters for organising this wonderful surprise. My dear Eric, you rock!” Betty said.
On his part, Eric shared several moments from the event and captioned them, “And out of love, she said yes!”
After the proposal, Wamumbi is set to visit Betty’s home this coming Saturday where he will officially meet her parents and the clan to table an official proposal to marry her.
The first-time MP says he met Maina in 2021 and “I discovered that she had everything I wanted in a wife”.
He says they started dating during the 2022 campaign period.
Prior to being elected, Maina was a director at the Athi Water Development Agency before he resigned to contest for the seat.
Wamumbi, the former Konyu ward MCA, had announced his intention to defend his seat when the then UDA presidential candidate William Ruto chose Gachagua as his running mate.
