LSK to Hold Protests After Lawyer Mbobu’s Killing

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) will on Friday, September 12, hold a Purple Ribbon March to protest against rising violence targeting members of the legal profession.

The march follows the assassination of Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu, who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday evening along Magadi Road, Nairobi.

In a statement, LSK President Faith Odhiambo said the peaceful procession will begin at 9:00 am from the Milimani Law Courts, proceed through Kenyatta Avenue, and end at Vigilance House where lawyers will present a memorandum to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja.

The march will also be observed across all eight LSK branches nationwide.

The LSK urged members to don the purple ribbon “in honour and solidarity,” while calling on the DCI to expedite investigations.

“Such calamitous levels of insecurity place our country at the precipice of lawlessness,” Odhiambo warned.
