Luis Suárez has etched his name even deeper into football history, netting the 600th goal of his glittering career during Inter Miami’s 4–0 demolition of Atlanta United in Major League Soccer on Saturday.
The Uruguayan striker, 38, scored Miami’s third goal of the night, his 42nd for the club in 82 appearances, bringing his career tally across club and country to an astounding 600 goals in 1,025 games, averaging 0.58 per match.
“If I say that I dreamed it, I’m lying. I never thought I’d achieve something like this in my career,” Suárez wrote on social media.
“Thanks to all the clubs I was at, to the national team, to my teammates, coaches, officials, to my family and to the fans. They are all part of this achievement.”
The former Liverpool and Barcelona forward’s career has been nothing short of legendary. He began at Nacional (20 goals), moved to Groningen (15), then exploded at Ajax with 111 goals before hitting 82 at Liverpool.
His most prolific spell came at Barcelona, where he bagged 198 goals alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Later stints saw him score 34 for Atlético Madrid and 29 for Grêmio before reuniting with Messi at Inter Miami.
Suárez remains Uruguay’s all-time top scorer with 69 goals in 143 caps.
