Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti on Monday announced the suspension of 36 county staff implicated in corruption allegations.
Speaking during a press briefing, Governor Ndeti emphasized that integrity and stewardship remain the foundation of public service, ensuring fairness, transparency, and trust between government and citizens.
“Without these principles, we cannot achieve the development and progress that our people deserve,” Governor Ndeti said, urging all members of the Machakos County Public Service to embrace ethics in their workplaces.
“Let us reject corruption, embrace transparency, and remain committed to serving our people with honesty,” she added.
The suspensions come amid an enhanced crackdown by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) targeting corrupt government officials nationwide.
In recent weeks, the EACC has investigated several high-profile cases, including Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok and former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
The suspended staff will remain on leave as investigations continue, with possible disciplinary or legal actions depending on the outcomes. Governor Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s determination to maintain a transparent and ethical public service, emphasizing that citizens’ trust is non-negotiable.
