Machakos Secures Strategic Investment Partnership with China’s Pujiang County

Governor Wavinya Ndeti hosted the Chinese delegation in a forum aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration in key sectors such as infrastructure, ICT, innovation, agriculture, health, education, and tourism.

Machakos County has solidified its position as a top-tier investment hub following a high-level engagement with a delegation from Pujiang County, China, during the China (Pujiang) – Kenya (Machakos) Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Forum.

The forum, held in Machakos and spearheaded by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, focused on strengthening bilateral ties and identifying areas of collaboration across strategic sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, ICT, innovation, health, education, and tourism.

The visiting Chinese delegation was led by Liu Xi, Magistrate of the Pujiang County People’s Government, alongside Zhu Shunxian, Director of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Office. The talks centered around facilitating direct investment and trade partnerships that align with Machakos’ development priorities.

Governor Ndeti emphasized the county’s ambitious plan to develop New Machakos City, a 2,200-acre smart metropolis featuring a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), light industries, and modern infrastructure. She pledged government support to potential investors, including access to land and streamlined facilitation.

“Put it in writing what kind of business you want to set up and we will give you land,” Governor Ndeti assured. “Our focus is on industries such as textiles, ICT, and smart manufacturing. We are ready to walk with you every step of the way.”

Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi echoed her sentiments, highlighting Machakos’ stable governance and investor-friendly environment. “When you invest in Machakos, your business is protected. This county offers immense opportunities and a secure atmosphere for growth,” he said.

The partnership is expected to usher in a new wave of international investments and reinforce Machakos’ position as a regional center for sustainable economic development.
