Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti on Monday, September 5, audited all County vehicles in an effort to streamline the Transport Department.
Wavinya stated that she intends to inventory the County Government’s motor vehicle inventory as well.
During the exercise, the Governor found that several vehicles lacked license plates, while others had their numbers printed on a piece of paper.
Wavinya stated that the exercise aimed at synchronizing human resource capacity with the existing fleet of county vehicles, as well as taking inventory of all grounded and missing Government vehicles.
“After conducting the audit, we found that a lot of these drivers’ vehicles lack number plates and logbooks hence people use them for personal use. Other tractors are available but not in working conditions. From today, before they embark on any journey, they ought to be fitted with the county government number plates.
“We cannot allow people to use state resources for their benefit. I want to give you a notice that I have not come to fire anyone but if you don’t do your job, I will give it to someone else,” she stated.

She also stated that those who violated the law would face consequences, and she urged county employees to work together to ensure that efficient and high-quality services are provided across all sectors.
The Governor also paid a visit to Machakos Level 5 hospital, where she warned health workers who had been sabotaging the county’s efforts to provide the best health care.
This was after she received a shipment of drugs and medical supplies from KEMSA.
Wavinya assured residents that she will work around the clock to ensure that Machakos provides the best health care in the country.
She also urged all pharmacies and health facilities near Machakos level 5 to stop purchasing medical supplies from the public facility.
