Maina Njenga, a former Mungiki leader, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday, May 24, a day after Nakuru police stated they were hunting for him.
He was on Tuesday, May 23,2023 acquitted by Milimani Law courts in robbery case after the prosecution failed to produce witnesses in court to testify against the case.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) released a statement on Monday night claiming the former Mungiki gang leader was wanted for interrogation in connection with the recovery of two weapons and over 90 rolls of bhang at a property linked to him in Nakuru.
DCI said in a statement that the items were discovered during a raid at Ngomongo hamlet in Dundori ward, where eight suspects aged 37 to 54 were apprehended.
Officers say they also found three rounds of ammunition hidden in one of the home’s rooms.
