In a significant blow to narcotics trafficking, security agencies have seized hundreds of kilograms of cannabis sativa in two separate operations in Narok and Kericho counties.
In the first incident, a joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) conducted a targeted raid at Suswa Shopping Centre, Narok County, following credible intelligence.

The officers intercepted a Nissan X-Trail, registration number KDP 353U, packed with nine sacks of cannabis.
Two suspects, identified as James Nyaikondo and Jackson Nyaikondo, were arrested on the spot. The suspects remain in custody as police finalize investigations ahead of their arraignment. The vehicle and narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
In a separate incident in Kericho County, police acting on a tip-off intercepted a vehicle suspected of trafficking drugs along the Kericho–Molo–Nakuru Highway.
When flagged down at Londiani Junction, the driver defied orders to stop, leading to a dramatic pursuit that ended at Mau Summit.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. A subsequent search uncovered 69 bales of cannabis weighing 310.5 kilograms. A manhunt is underway to arrest the fugitive driver.
Police said the back-to-back operations highlight their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks in the region. Authorities have urged the public to continue sharing information that could assist in the ongoing crackdown on illicit drugs.
