Malala Accuses Sakaja and Interior CS of Deploying Goons Ahead of Gachagua’s Return

By Michelle Ndaga

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala has alleged that Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen are behind a plan to unleash “state-sponsored goons” to disrupt the much anticipated return of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, Malala claimed that the two leaders held late night strategy meetings in Nairobi where they reportedly activated groups tasked with causing chaos in the city’s Central Business District ahead of Gachagua’s homecoming.“We have been informed that the Nairobi County Governor and the Interior CS have activated their state-sponsored goons to cause harm to innocent citizens,” Malala said.

He went on to allege that Members of Parliament George Aladwa and Beatrice Elachi were assigned to coordinate the groups, which he claimed would be used to destroy property, loot businesses, and harm Gachagua’s supporters.

Malala cautioned Nairobi’s business community to remain vigilant, warning that the alleged scheme was intended to destabilize the city during what is expected to be a massive show of support for Gachagua. He further claimed that the government might attempt to divert Gachagua’s flight to Kisumu or Mombasa to weaken the planned reception.“Even if they try to divert his arrival, the people will still gather in huge numbers. Gachagua’s return cannot be stopped,” Malala declared.

The accusations come amid heightened political tension within the ruling coalition, as Gachagua prepares for a symbolic homecoming at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday.Neither Governor Sakaja nor CS Murkomen had issued an immediate response to the allegations by the time of publishing.
