Cleophas Malala, secretary general of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), hinted to a merger of Kenyan Kwanza parties to form a unified unit in a new post-2022 General Election Strategy.
Malala told the reporters on Thursday, March 2, that he would confer with other parties before signing the accord signed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017. The Jubilee Coalition subsequently combined to form the Jubilee Party.
“Our objective is to build a perpetual political party with a semblance of the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa and the Democratic Party in America. I shall be having a consultative agenda with our partners to merge with the UDA party and form one big party,” Malala said.
Malala contended that a merger would strengthen the coalition led by President William Ruto, comparable to other ruling parties that had been in power for years around the world.
Embu Governor Cecil Mabarire, chairperson of the UDA, underlined that the move was not intended to undermine the other parties, but rather to benefit the Kenya Kwanza administration.
