During the ceremony, Dr. Odinga thanked well wishers and other sponsors for believing in her vision.

“Beyond just teaching academic studies, schools should provide students with skills geared towards the rapidly changing modern world. I am elated that we broke ground for the Dr Ida Odinga Innovation Center at Ogande Girls. I sincerely thank everyone who has supported us thus far.”

Dr. Fred Matiang’i, who was also in attendance for the launch, thanked Dr. Odinga for empowering the youth.

“The ultramodern facility once complete aims to empower the youth via Academia reserch and a hub for performing arts.”

The Dr. Ida Odinga Library, Research, Innovation and Resource Center will be constructed in Ogande Girls’ High School, where Dr. Ida studied in.

Once complete, the project will be a regional hub for performing arts, Film; Studio and Cinema Mashinani initiatives.

Through its proximity to colleges and universities including Tom Mboya and Rongo, the facilities will be key for innovation and research projects aimed at developing solutions to Kenya’s challenges.
