Residents of Kerugoya Town in Kirinyaga Central, Kirinyaga County, were left in shock after two bodies were found lying in a pool of blood inside a rented house under unclear circumstances.
The bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in the woman’s rented house in the Kerugoya Town Site and Service area. The man was identified as Timothy Maina, 30, and had a deep wound to the stomach. The woman, identified only as Veronicah, believed to be in her 20s, had severe cuts to the neck and forehead.
According to a local resident who requested anonymity, the bodies were discovered after Veronicah failed to report to work.
“She works at a local petrol station, and when she didn’t show up, we went to her house where we found the lifeless bodies and two knives,” the resident said.
Kirinyaga Police Commander Mohammed Jire confirmed that detectives are treating the case as murder.
“We are investigating the murder incident that occurred today,” Jire said.
Shocked residents questioned whether the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute or if an intruder may have been involved.
“Only the police can tell,” one resident said.
