Detectives have arrested a man accused of publishing inflammatory and controversial social media content that triggered widespread public concern online.

The suspect, identified as David Onyango Elgon, also known as MC Adek Tatu, was apprehended in Utange, Mombasa County, following investigations by detectives.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect is believed to be behind a series of viral posts shared on his Facebook account under the name “MC Adek Tatu,” which authorities described as insensitive and likely to disrupt public peace and order.

Investigators said the content spread rapidly across different social media platforms, prompting a manhunt to trace the individual behind the account.

Acting on intelligence, detectives tracked the suspect to Queen’s Court in Utange, where he was arrested at his residence.

The suspect is currently being held in custody as police complete processing ahead of his expected court appearance.

The DCI has urged Kenyans to exercise responsibility while using online platforms, warning that freedom of expression should not be used to spread content that may incite division or threaten national unity.
