On Wednesday evening, a guy in his mid-30s committed himself in Ogembo town, Kisii county, after assaulting and critically hurting his fiancée.
The man in issue, Richard Gitebe, is alleged to have broken up with his girlfriend some time ago.
He is said to have locked his girlfriend in a rental property before assaulting her with a Maasai sword, according to Kisii county police commander Francis Kooli, who confirmed the event.
He believed she had died after cutting and stabbing her multiple times, so he swallowed a pesticide.
Members of the public, on the other hand, rescued the lady and transported her to Ogembo Sub County Hospital, where she is struggling for her life.
