Man Denies Links To Library Fraud

Written by Cyrus Kimanga  📝

Nyamako Jeff Geofrey Matoke was charged with conspiracy to defraud the Kenya National Library Services (KNLS).

It is believed that he on 28th January 2020 jointly with others defrauded Kenya National Library Services Ksh 1,521,026.

He forged KRA Eslip for the Kenya National Library Services clearance of consignment. The said consignment indicated donated educational books valued at Ksh 1,521,026.

He purported it to be genuine and valid E-slip prepared and issued by the Kenya Revenue Authority.

He denied the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh 1 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 600,000

This is just a microscopic sample of how public servants entitled with the mandate of protecting public property have taken advantage of the uninformed Kenyans to enrich themselves.

In the corruption perception index 2020, Kenya was ranked 124th out of 180 countries for corruption.

On 22nd July 2019, Kenya’s finance minister Henry Rotich became the country’s first sitting minister to be arrested for corruption.

In 2017, the US government cut health funding to Kenya over widespread corruption in the ministry of health.
