A man was on Tuesday arraigned in Thika Law Courts for possession of narcotic drugs valued at KSh 1,200.
Abduba Abdi was charged with being in unlawful possession of cannabis (bhang), contrary to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.
The court was told that on July 19, 2025, Abdi was found with 12 rolls and 12 grams of cannabis at Kisii Estate in Thika West Sub-county. The prosecution stated that the substance was not intended for medicinal use.
Abdi pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In a brief ruling, the court granted him a cash bail of KSh 15,000 or, in the alternative, a bond of KSh 30,000.
He was also warned against interfering with witnesses or engaging in similar activities during the case period.
The case will be mentioned on August 29, 2025, while the hearing is scheduled for November 20, 2025.
Cases involving minor drug-related offences have seen increased attention in recent months, with authorities citing rising urban drug use as a growing public health concern.
