An activist has filed an urgent appeal to prevent the Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) from holding a retreat in Mombasa with the Director of Public Prosecutions.
In a petition filed on Tuesday, the applicant, Memba Ocharo, alleged that it was unethical for DPP Noordin Haji to host editors for a retreat while they published cases his officers litigate in court.
He claimed that a conference like this would diminish editorial freedom. The five-day gathering was set to begin on November 18.
Danstan Omari, his attorney, challenged the DPP to show the source of monies used during the meeting.
