John Kyama Wambua, a suspect arrested on January 21, 2025, at Kasanova area within Huruma carrying a bag stashed with human body parts, has told court that Police officers forced him to sign his confession statement.
Wambua, who is the main suspect in the murder of Joy Frida Munani told Principal Magistrate Carolyne Mugo at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi that she should order his statement to be revoked on account of coercion.
According to Wambua, police officers forced him to record his statement.
The prosecution today informed court that the investigations into the alleged murder have been completed and the file forwarded to the DPP for directions.
ODPP asked the court to grant them two extra weeks to review the investigation file and make a decision on whether to charge Wambua with the murder or not.
Brief facts of the case are that Wambua was sighted by police officers on patrol at Kasanova area in Huruma while carrying a bag on his bag looking suspicious.
Police stopped him and upon conducting search on the said bag they human body parts (thoraxic part) stashed in a nylon cement carrier.
Upon interrogation, he led the officers to his house where some other parts of the body were recovered.
He confessed that they bong to his wife namely Joy Frida Munani. He alleged that he found his wife with another man and when they got to the house an argument ensued that led him kill his wife and later chopped the body in order to dispose it.
The case will be mentioned on March 3, 2025 for further directions.
