A 50-year-old man has been found guilty of killing another man who purportedly disapproved of his love connection with his (deceased’s) mother.
Richard Kipyegon Langat alias Kichokio was found guilty of killing Bernard Kipkoech Tonui on November 24, 2018.
The prosecution called six witnesses. All of whom, according to the court, testified in support of the accused.
The inmate appeared at a ceremony equipped with a machete on the fateful day and slashed him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Kipkoech was transported to Kericho County Referral Hospital, where he died from his injuries while receiving treatment.

The cause of death, according to a doctor who did the post mortem, was a pulmonary embolism, which resulted in heart failure, and the dead had deep cut wounds on his right leg, right arm, and head.
In his defence, the accused claimed he was arrested when he went to a police station in Fort Tenan to report an incident in which he was attacked by unknown people at his home.
In mitigation, he stated that he was the sole earner for his two wives and 11 children and that he was drunk at the time of the offence, impairing his judgment.
