Man Guilty Of Trafficking Wildlife Trophies

The Kahawa Law Courts have today sentenced the Suspect convicted of trafficking in wildlife trophies
Ibrahim Muiru was convicted by the Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Boaz Ombewa, the learned magistrate said that the prosecution has proved their case beyond reasonable doubt hence warranting a conviction pursuant to the Law.
The convict was arrested in possession of eight pieces of elephant trophy weighing 35 Kilograms.
He was arrested at his home in Kihingo, Kiambu County where he was charged with the offense.
The office of the directorate of public prosecution (ODPP) through senior prosecution counsel, Harrison Kiarie tabled corroborative evidence before the Court successfully pinning the accused person to the said offense.
The presiding Court deemed it fit to pass a deterrent punishment to protect the endangered wildlife species which are on the verge of becoming extinct with the current rate of illegal pouching.
The Convict was sentenced to serve 5 years in prison without the option of a fine.
