Man Jailed For 30 Years For Killing His Uncle In Kakamega

Kakamega High Court sentenced a 28-year-old man to 30 years in prison after being convicted of killing his uncle in 2019.

The convict Ezekiel Barasa Shibweche was charged in 2019 with the murder of his uncle. According to the prosecution, Ezekiel Barasa on the night of 14 April 2019 at Shikokhwe village in Malava, Kakamega County, he attacked Isaac Barasa and killed him using a blunt weapon.

In convicting the suspect, Judge Chebet ruled that according to the evidence presented in court by the prosecution, it was clear that the convict was guilty of the murder of one Isaac Barasa.

The Judge also noted that the prosecution proved that Shibweche had been addicted to smoking marijuana since childhood after dropping out of school in class three and has been involved in cases of insecurity.

In mitigation, Shibweche apologized, saying that during the time he has been in remand, he has managed to reform himself and if he is released, he will not repeat the wrongdoings.
