Man Kills Lover, Buries Her In Shallow Grave Under Bed

Police in Kirinyaga county have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly killed his lover and buried his body in a shallow grave inside their house.

According to Mwea-west Sub-county Deputy Police Commander Sammy Beauttah who confirmed the incident, the body of Joyce Nginya, 44, was discovered days after the incident on Sunday night.

“The matter was reported by the family members at Kiamaciri police station and after visiting the house we found the victim’s body… Joyce Nginya was buried in a shallow grave and that was when we started the process of exhuming the body after a court order from Baricho law court,” said the police boss.

Jane Njeru, sister to the deceased, disclosed that Joyce’s children called her and informed her that their mother was missing prompting her to report to the police.

“I was called today morning by my sister’s children who told me that their mother was missing and I was shocked to see her body buried in a shallow grave under her bed and that’s when I informed the police officers,” Jane said. 

Jane further revealed that Joyce, who was selling miraa at Thiba shopping centre had separated from her former husband in 2011 before she fell in love with the alleged killer.

“I don’t know the man, I only know the former husband whom they separated in 2011 and he is also here,” Jane added.

The woman is from Makima in Embu, and her lover is from Murang’a County.

The deceased’s body was taken to the Kerugoya hospital mortuary as manhunt for the suspect continues.
