Man Risks Jail For Stealing A Dog

A man has been arraigned in court after stealing a puppy worth Ksh100,000.

Ian Kinuthia is accused of breaking into Elizabeth Wambui’s home in Nairobi and committing a felony in violation of section 306 of the penal code by stealing her dog.

Before leaving the house, Wambui had confined the dog in the kennel.

When he returned in the evening, she discovered the gate to her complex had been breached, as well as the kennel having been broken into.

While seeking for her dog, she was told that two men were selling a similar dog for Sh5000. Kinuthia matched one of the individuals selling the dog’s description.

She informed the authorities, and the suspect was apprehended. However, the dog is yet to be found.

Kinuthia denied the charges in front of Kibera law courts’ senior resident magistrate Renee Kitangwa, and was released on a Sh100,000 cash bail and an alternative bond of the same amount.
