A 21-year-old man has been convicted and sentenced to 15 years in jail for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Senior Resident Magistrate Hon. David Odhiambo ruled that the prosecution had tabled corroborative evidence to convict and jail Isaac Juma Odhiambo for the offence of defilement.
According to the prosecution, the accused committed the offence on diverse dates between March and November 2021 at an unknown time at kibarani area of Jomvu Sub County within Mombasa County.
In his ruling, Hon. Odhiambo stated that the accused failed to unshackle himself from the offence due to the magnitude of the evidence adduced by five prosecution witnesses.
The court stated that the prosecution, through Senior Prosecution Counsel Barbara Sombo discharged its burden of proof before proceeding to jail the accused.
