A man who startled fans and security after rushing toward Ariana Grande on the yellow carpet at the Wicked For Good premiere in Singapore has been sentenced to jail.
The incident, which unfolded in front of cameras and guests at the Marina Bay Sands premiere event, briefly disrupted proceedings and raised concerns over security at high profile showcases.
Witnesses said the man broke through a barrier and moved quickly toward the singer before security subdued him within seconds.
Grande, who was greeting fans and posing for photos, was not harmed and continued with the event after a short pause. Event organisers later confirmed that additional security protocols were activated following the disruption.
Singapore authorities charged the man with causing public alarm and attempting to breach a restricted area.
In court, prosecutors said his actions posed a safety risk to both the artist and attendees. He was handed a short custodial sentence, signalling the country’s typically firm stance on public order violations.
Grande has not commented publicly on the incident, though her team is understood to have cooperated with local authorities.
