Phil Foden has agreed to terms with Manchester City on a new contract that will keep the England midfielder at the club until 2027.
The previous contract for the 22-year-old was set to expire in 2024.
Since making his debut in November 2017 as one of City’s brightest academy products, Foden has scored 52 goals in 182 games.
“It’s difficult to express how grateful I am to have signed this contract,” Foden said.
“This is a dream come true.” I’ve been a City supporter my entire life. I’ve been training here for many years and even worked as a ball boy.
“I love this club so much, so to know I am going to be a part of it until 2027 feels amazing.”
Stockport-born Foden has won 11 trophies with City, including four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, and the FA Cup. He has two goals in 18 England caps.
In addition, he has won the Premier League Young Player of the Season and the PFA Young Player of the Year awards in the last two seasons.
City manager Pep Guardiola gave him his debut as a 17-year-old, and Foden credited Guardiola for his rapid development over the last five years.
“I’ve improved a lot in recent years and so much of that is down to Pep and his staff, who guide me every single day on the training field,” added Foden, who has averaged a goal or assist every 120.5 minutes since the start of the 2019-20 season.
“Working with them gives me the best chance of improving even more and becoming the best player I can be. With the squad we have here, I feel I can keep learning and winning trophies. Those are the two most important things to me.” Said Stockport-born Foden.
