Mandera Teacher Convicted of Defilement Handed Life Imprisonment

Mandera Law Court sentenced a 38-year-old Duksi teacher, Sheikh Mohamed Abdullahi Issack to life imprisonment after being found guilty for defilement.

According to the Court, the prosecution presented compelling evidence against the convict, including testimonies from four witnesses among them, the doctor and the investigating officer.

The prosecution produced the birth certificate, P3 form, PRC form, treatment notes proving the age of the victim, and evidence of defilement.

In his judgment, the Magistrate stated that the court looked at the gravity of the offences and noted that it calls for a custodial sentence to act as a deterrence to the society and to stop the commission of this act, which is on the rise in Mandera County.

The victim was 10 years old and a pupil of the accused at the time of the heinous act.
