The body of a man who was buried alive when a quarry he was digging collapsed at Ngucue Quarry in Murinduko District, Kirinyaga County has been recovered.
The body of Josphat Muchiri, 54, was recovered last night by an excavator belonging to a Ngurubani trader after residents waited in vain for the Kirinyaga County Government to respond.
“At last, Mr. Muchangi has recovered Muchiri’s body after residents, using hoes and shovels, failed to find his body,” said Paul Muna.
Ngucue residents spent more than 24 hours searching for the body of the deceased after the quarry collapsed on Tuesday night.
The deceased was in the company of two people who were unharmed after the incident.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Kerugoya mortuary while arrangements for burial in Kanjinji village continue.
